Our History

Founded by passionate child advocates in 1997, the Children's Museum of Brownsville has evolved into a beloved institution dedicated to inspiring young minds. A pivotal moment arrived in 2005 when the museum celebrated its Grand Opening at it’s permanent location in March, marking the start of its mission to engage, educate, and entertain young learners. Today, we continue our commitment to fostering curiosity, learning, and creativity among children in Brownsville and beyond. Our dedication extends to the development of a cutting-edge Science Center designed to provide pre-teens and teens with an opportunity to grow and engage in STEM-focused learning, ensuring that their love of learning continues to thrive beyond their time at the Children's Museum.
